Amazon: Cobra Grips PRO

For 15 years or so I had been using the same lifting straps. The good old nylon strap with a loop in the end. They served there purpose and I used them rather infrequently. For the last few years I have taken powerlifting more seriously and thought it was time to do a little product research. I am all for spending a few extra bucks to get the right product/tool for the job. I follow quite a few powerlifters on social media and noticed a particular brand that was quite popular. I started my research there and found the Cobra Grips PRO on Amazon. The reviews were pretty good so I said, what the hell.

In my first session I played with trap bar deadlifts, conventional barbell deadlifts, db rows and various other pulling movements where the grips would be of great use. I will tell you this, if all you have used are the regular old nylon straps, chuck ’em in the trash and pick up some Cobras.

First, they are burly as hell. Very solid. The neoprene padding around the wrists is extremely comfortable and the hook-n-loop closure is plenty secure. I found it very easy to establish a solid grip on the bar, dumbbell, pullup bar without issue… so much easier than wrap wrap wrap… twist twist twist of the old school straps.

I’ve been using these grips for about 2 years now and have been extremely happy. They’ve endured all the abuse I can throw at them with no signs of deterioration. I can wholeheartedly recommend this product to any of my lifting friends looking for some straps to get after it without burning up your grip.
